The following may apply if the printer produces quality output but insists
on the error message. Of course, if the printouts are faded, etc., it may
indeed be time for proper maintenance.

Press the 'RECOVER/RESET' button while turning the printer ON. This
will reset the counter.

I have this model, too. Don't fall for that drum error. It only goes by a
page count and the drum will continue to yield quality images for at least
another 200-500 pages! Also, you can hold down the MENU 1 key to get into
a service menu where you can reset the drum count and total page count for
the printer.
