anything with a value of $100 or more, USPS Express Mail International
or Priority Mail International (or whatever they are called this week!)
will be used (your choice) since they are trackable and insured. You
may opt for a lower cost shipping method for less expensive items but
there will be no insurance and if nothing shows up or the package arrives
flat as a pancake, you're out of luck. Please provide a phone number
along with the address - required by some shippers.
A much preferred alternative for non-USA addresses is for me to ship
to a USA address who can then forward it to you anywhere in the World.
Find a friend in the USA who would be willing to do this. There are
also shipping companies for this purpose.
However, if I do agree to send it direct, in addition to the shipping
charges, I may have to add a hassle fee since non-USA destination (including
Canada) entail additional time and effort, sorry. The fair market or
insurance value of the item(s) will be used for the Customs form and
the buyer is responsible for any Customs duty on the receiving end.

The following are various laser heads or assemblies that include a laser
head that have an internal mirror at one end and a Brewster angle window
at the other end. Most of these have a wide bore and are easy to
align, but will generally be multi-spatial mode using a medium radius
mirror without an aperture inside the cavity, or the use of some other
means of mode control. The design wavelength in all cases is 633 nm
(normal HeNe red), but some are capable of at least some orange
(612 nm and maybe 605 nm) as noted. They are great for
general experimentation using an external cavity laser without the hassle
of critical alignment and optics cleaning at both ends.

Two Brewster:
I no longer have any two-brewster laser heads that lase for sale. Only
heads with tubes in them that could be refilled. So, the only things
really useful here are the mirrors, unless you want to remove the tube
(lots of work) as a display piece.
These are Hughes 3184H HeNe laser heads which consist of a two-Brewster
HeNe laser tube inside a sturdy aluminum cylinder with mirrors mounted on
the end-plates. With the end-plates removed, the two-Brewster laser tube
may be used for all sorts of educational experiments using external mirrors.
The following 2 laser diodes are for experimental purposes with limited
specifications but should work well to pump DPSS green lasers up to about
100 mW and IR lasers up to about 400 mW. Samples have been tested with
both CASIX DPM MCAs and in Uniphase uGreen DPSS lasers. They are NOS
(new old stock) which means never used but a few years old. I will test
the diode(s) I ship for threshold current and current at maximum power.
Specifications were determined based on testing and their use in uGreen
lasers and comparison with similar diodes with known specs.
Like all bare laser diodes, these are extremely sensitive to Electro-Static
Discharge (ESD), overcurrent, and other causes. The warranty on these diodes
is only for misrepresentation of wavelength or maximum power. See the
DISCLAIMER and WARRANTY Form for High Power Laser
Diodes.
LD-SCL2372-P1 SDL 2 W multimode 808 nm laser diode in >10 $ 400.00
temperature controlled package with monitor
photodiode. This is what you need to repair
that tired weak Coherent 532 DPSS laser.
The following 3 laser diodes are for experimental purposes with limited
specifications but they do lase. They are NOS (new old stock) which means
never used but a few years old. I will test the diode(s) I ship for
threshold current and current at maximum power but that's it. To
determine what's listed below, samples of each type were tested
using an LDC-3900 laser diode controller. Wavelength was determined
using an Ando Optical Spectrum analyzer. Maximum output power was
estimated by increasing current in increments of 10 mA until output
didn't continue to increase or decreased. The rated power was then
assumed to be a nice round number below this value. :) Interestingly,
all tested diodes recovered fully unless pushed way beyond this point.
The power versus current data for three samples is plotted in
Single Mode Diodes Data.
They were determined to be single mode by using a 12 mm focal length lens
to project a spot on a screen about 1 meter away. The spot was a nice
point. A multi-transverse mode diode would result in a line which would
be a 80X or so magnified image of the stripe.
The beam shoots away from the mounting surface (C-mounts come in both
types). Like all bare laser diodes, these are extremely sensitive to static
and reverse polarity. Warranty on these diodes is only for misrepresentation
of wavelength, maximum power, or single mode. A refund will be issued if
any of these specs are found to be in error. Since high power single mode
laser diodes usually go for 3 or 4 times what I'm charging, it's a small risk
as long as you know how to safely drive this type of laser diode.
Like all bare laser diodes, these are extremely sensitive to Electro-Static

200 mW max. A sample was tested to 240 mW.
Slope efficiency: 0.83. C-mount is positive.
LD980-1 C-mount laser diode, 980-990 nm, appears to 20 $ 125.00
be single transverse mode, typical threshold
current around 27 mA. Probably rated 100 mW
max. A sample was tested to 140 mW. Slope
efficiency: 0.75. C-mount is positive. Uses
include pumping erbium:glass microchip lasers.
LD980-2 C-mount laser diode, 980-990 nm, appears to 9 $ 100.00
be single transverse mode, typical threshold
current around 15 mA. Probably rated 100 mW
max. A sample was tested to 130 mW. Slope
efficiency: 0.8. C-mount is NEGATIVE -
opposite of normal! Uses include pumping
erbium:glass microchip lasers.

The following "LDs" are mostly bare laser diodes with no driver. At
these prices, they are excellent candidates whos scrifices will be
justified for your first laser diode experiments. :)
LD1-1 Laser diodes in aluminum block with fixed >10 $ 1.50

1-2 mW maximum output. These are from some
sort of barcode scanners. $1.50 each or

with collimator. This assembly appears to Pic
clamp the (probably) 9 mm LD in place so
it may be possible to replace it with one of
your own. Comes with driver PCB but I haven't
figured out the connections yet. The lens
is adjustable but saeled with adhesive.

DLPLAT1 673 nm 2 mW laser diode on TEC controlled 1 $ 100.00
mount with numerous beam shaping and

The laser diode is in a can package and
can be replaced relatively easily.
Includes a Crystal Technology AOM and
RF driver but I could not get this unit
to do anything to the beam, though the
driver appears to work. The laser diode
mount alone is worth at least the price.

Helium-Neon Lasers
Note: All output powers are actual measured values after about a
10 minute warmup, not CDRH safety ratings which may be much higher and
totally impossible to achieve under any conditions. Wavelength is 632.8 nm
(normal orange-red), and the beam is randomly polarized TEM00 (single
transverse mode) with normal divergence (1 to 2 mR), unless otherwise noted.
The listings are very roughly ordered from low to high power.
Complete HeNe Lasers
These include self-contained lasers as well as laser head/power supply

Good exciter, high pressure tube works but
doesn't like to stay lit without cooling
and is low power. Generally good cosmetic
condition. The exciter can power a 3 to
4 mW HeNe laser tube if rewired for another
tube or head. A thin (i.e., 1 inch diameter)
HeNe laser tube of conventional design can
be installed in the head without too much

SP117A-H1 Spectra-Physics model 117A frequency stabilized 1 $ 200.00
laser head. Total output power about 2 mW, so
about 1 mW in each mode. No output polarizer.
The laser head starts, runs, and stabilizes
fine, just a bit lower than new power.
SP117A-PBS Polarizing Beam Splitter (PBS) for SP-117A 2 $ 100.00
laser. This is the standard rhombus-shaped
(almost cube) beam splitter assembly that
screws to the SP-117A laser head inside the
output end to select one of the polairzed
modes.
SP117A-HZ1 Spectra-Physics model 117A frequency stabilized 2 $ 300.00
laser head with a Zygo tube. The laser starts,
runs, and stabilizes fine, but may not stay lit
on the standard SP-117/A controller due to a
higher tube voltage. (The current is the same,
4.5 mA.) It requires about 2.1 kV, which is
considerably higher than the normal SP-117/A
tube. (The original power supply lists 1,600 V
though the actual voltage available may be much
higher.) Therefore, while I have run a head
witha Zygo tube in it on an SP-117 controller, I
do not recommend this as a drop-in replacement
as the power supply may be unhappy and do bad
things (like die). But it should be great as a
high quality laser for your own controller 3+ mW
total output. Note: This head does not have
the output PBS, sold separately (above).
SP117A-HZ2 Same as above but with super long cables (20 or 1 $ 310.00
30 feet!).
SP117A-HM1 Similar to above but has Melles Griot 05-LHR-038 1 $ 250.00
tube. This tube will work on the SP-117/A

halogen lamp at one with some relay optics
to focus the lamp's filament into a narrow
glass tube that is between a pair of
compression fittings. A polished metal
parabolic reflector directs any scatter
into a UDT455 amplified photodiode. There
is also a yellow LED facing the sensor,
presumably for calibration, and some other
unidentified device facing the sample. Comes
with the original electronics board, untested.

HENEPS-S3A-1 Spectra-Physics model 253A/122 exciter. This 1 Make
is the power supply for some versions of the offer
Spectra-Physics model 122 laser. It's a
switchmode power supply that generates 225,
300, or 375 V p-p at about 22 kHz to drive a
a potted voltage multiplier/start module in
the laser head. If you have an SP-122 laser

will work (and are extremely easy to get
lasing) with the 1-B HeNe laser tubes

use. These mirrors could also be useful for a
scanning Fabry-Perot interferometers with an

only electronics in this unit that are known

very hard start and very weak. It would make
an interesting display piece. The PBS has
been removed due to damaged coatings. The
beam sampler plate is good as are likely
the lenses and any other optics, PDs and PCB
electronics, and mechanical parts. But it
doesn't have any feet and its appearance is
slightly ratty. (The ball bearing feet may
be available if that's what it takes to sell
this thing.) Nonetheless, it might just
have that impossible to find part you
absolutely must have!

NOS. Using one would be good for up to a 4-5 mW
laser, 2 for up to a 10-15 mW laser. Other uses
include capacitor charging for a pulsed laser
or strobe, electric fence :), etc. Two for $20.
HENEMGH4-HX Newly homeless Melles Griot polarized HeNe 10 $ 20.00
laser head from HENEMGH4s, but weak. These
only produce 2 to 6 mW after warmup (typical
is 3-4 mW). Complete assembly including
front and rear end-caps and 6 foot Alden
cable. It's possible that mirror tweaking
might result in another mW or so but probably
not something dramatic. Some samples also
tend to be hard to start. No guarantees on
anything other than that these heads do
lase and produce a nice TEM00 polarized
beam. Or consider it the perfect home for
your homeless 5-10 mW HeNe laser tube with
cathode-end output. Removing the tube intact
and reusing everything else is fairly easy.

At the very least you get $10 worth of
good mirrors. I don't know what chants are
required to pacify the gods of dead lasers
if I salvaged the mirrors from these since
the output power is so low. :) They have
good discharge color but mirror alignment won't
help. So if you want a laser tube that looks

from long hours of lasing and guaranteed to

HENELPS3-X HeNe hard start and/or hard run 05-LHR-640 - $ 2.50
very cute 0.5 mW HeNe lsaer tube. These
produce at least 0.5 mW (most do somewhat
more) but due to long hours slaving away
in some sort of measurement instrument, have
a higher than normal operating voltage,
some may also be slightly hard to start and,
there is likely to be significant brown
crud in the bore. But they will work on a
05-LPM-379 or similar power supply with
a 75K ballast resistor close to the tube.

price, you'll have to provide your own chants

for a Scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer.
HENEMGH1-X Melles Griot 05-LHR-911 laser head. Includes 3 $ 10.00
front end-cap with shutter and short cable
but no Alden connector. Low or no output
but I will guarantee that mirror alignment
will get you at least 1 mW, possibly as much
2 mW. Requires drilling 3 holes in cylinder
opposite front mirror adjusting screws.
I'm just too lazy to bother but it really is
just a 10 minute job with a drill press and
hex wrench. And since it's the cathode-end
mirror that needs to be adjusted, no shocking
experiences (usually). :) Or, at this price,
just salvage the mirrors for your 1-B laser
tube (but I don't want to know).
HENENLX1 Weird beam 1 mW HeNe laser tube. The beam is 2 $ 3.00
weird because the outer surface of the OC
mirror is broken. The tube lases just fine
with rated power, the beam is just strange.
You could sand it down and have an even more
strange constellation of dots generator.

rather unusual size - for mounting a 1" or less

The following, shall we say, may have some problems. OK, they have more
problems than some of the others. :) These are various HeNe laser
tubes/heads that don't work properly for one reason or another but

of conventional design, hard-seal, gas intact
and starts and runs with perfect discharge
color but output is less than 1 mW and
and fluctuates, and mirror alignment is VERY
critical. With the addition of a series of
Zeeman suppression magnets, I would imagine
that you could get a few mW but almost
certainly no where near the 35 mW rating.
This is NOT a mirror alignment problem
but either a gas-fill or incorrect mirror
formula. Perfect physical conition.
HENEDT4-1A Same as above except has punch through at 1 $ 75.00
anode. Excellent cosmetic condition.
Won't lase, but will light up on small
HeNe laser power supply. (Discharge
snakes along outside the bore.) Makes
interesting high tech sculpture.
HENEDT4-2 Very long (about 0.8 meter) HeNe laser tube 1 $ 35.00
of segmented design, hard-seal but up to
air. With a segemented tube, the
bore is split into sections - this may
improve the distribution of the gas or
something and in any case looks cool. Tube
would be rated 15 to 25 mW if operational.

conventional design, hard-seal but up to air
as above. Tube would be rated 12 to 15 mW
if operational. This tube was removed from an
Aerotech HENEATH1-12 head (see above).

Soft-seal has leaked over time. Ionizes but
does not lase. OC mirror has screws for
alignment. Brewster window seal between

This may have been a prototype. It is
prefect single longitudinal mode at all
power levels indicating that the ring
laser cavity is in good condition. The
main problem is that the TEC inside the
pump diode package is faulty and can't
maintain the set temperature for more
than 1/2 hour even at an output power of
only 50 mW, much less at higher power.
Includes new SDL-2382 replacement diode.
Some assembly required. This is not for
the casual laser hobbyist. Replacing and
aligning the pump diode requires a degree
of skill, patience, and experience. And,
there is the risk of irrepairable damage
due to carelessness or just bad luck.
But success could result in one of the best
holography lasers with a half watt or more
output power. Inquire for details.
